 Abrasive tool is selected according to materials of work piece, grinding mode, grinding parameter and quality requirements of grinding processing (roughness, precision) and production efficiency. It is necessary to select characteristics of abrasive tool that suit the processing requirements. Abrasive tool has characteristics such as abrasive, granularity, rigidity, structure number and binder.

Brown corundum

High rigidity, high tenacity, low price and wide application.

Grinding of metals with higher tensile resistance strength such as carbon steel, alloy steel, malleable cast-iron and hard bronze and others.

White corundum

Its rigidity is higher than that of brown corundum. It has excellent grinding performance and low grinding heat.

Grinding of hardened steel, alloy steel, high-speed steel, high-carbon steel, thin wall parts and others.

Single-crystal corundum

High rigidity, high tenacity and single spherical crystal.

Grinding of materials with high tenacity and high rigidity of stainless steel and high-speed steel and work pieces which are easy to deform and burn.

Micro-crystal corundum

Abrasive which is composed of micro crystal. It has high tenacity and high strength.

Pink fused alumina

Sharp edge of abrasive particle, excellent maintenance of edges and corners and higher durability.

Selection principle

Selection reason

Select soft abrasive tool when grinding hard materials. Select hard abrasive tool when grinding soft materials.

Select soft rigidity because hard materials are difficult to grind and abrasion particle is easy to be blunt. Select hard rigidity because hard materials are east to grind and abrasion particle is difficult to be blunt.

Select soft rigidity when grinding soft nonferrous metallic materials with large tenacity.

 

Select soft rigidity to increase self-sharpening performance of grinding wheel because grinding wheel is easy to clam when grinding soft nonferrous metallic materials with large tenacity.

Select soft grinding wheel when grinding materials with poor heat conductivity.

Such materials have high rigidity, low heat conductivity. Temperature will not decrease quickly in grinding region.

Rigidity of selected abrasive tool of cutting and external round grinding is softer than that of longitudinal external round grinding.

Prevent work pieces from burning.

Select hard abrasive tool during molding grinding and grinding of interrupted surface.

Guarantee correct geometric shape of work pieces.

Select soft abrasive tool during plain grinding. Abrasive tool during end grinding shall be harder than that during round grinding.

Abrasive tool has large contact area with work pieces. Abrasive particle is easy to be blunt with increased grinding heat and flammable work pieces.

Abrasive tool of internal round grinding shall be harder than that of external, plain grinding.

Select hard abrasive tool due to low linear velocity of abrasive tool during internal round grinding.

Select soft grinding wheel when grinding knives.

Select grinding wheel which is between H and L due to poor heat elimination conditions of work pieces when grinding knives because work pieces are easy to burn.

Rigidity of high-speed grinding wheels is generally lower than that of ordinary grinding wheels for one or two grades.

Select soft grinding wheel due to high dynamic rigidity obtained by grinding wheel in high-speed revolution.

Rigidity of grinding by cooling fluid is higher than that of grinding wheel during dry grinding.

Select grinding wheel whose rigidity is softer than that of cooling liquid for one or two grades because work pieces are easy to generate heat during dry grinding.

It is suitable to grinding of ordinary carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard alloy, non ferrous metal, foodstuff, wood, glass and ceramics and others.

Resin binderB

Binder has high strength, elasticity, low heat resistance and excellent self-sharpening performance.

It can be used for coarse grinding, abrasion, cutting and free grinding. It can be used to manufacture high-speed, high-smoothness grinding wheel, heavy load, cutting grinding wheels with various special requirements.
